Trauma Therapy for Anxiety, PTSD, and Emotional Healing

You might be considering Trauma Therapy because something from the past continues to affect how you feel, think, or respond in the present. Trauma can show up through anxiety, emotional overwhelm, disconnection, difficult relationship patterns, or a sense that certain experiences remain unresolved. Trauma-informed therapy can provide a supportive space to understand these responses, process difficult experiences, and develop a greater sense of safety, connection, and emotional stability.

Who Trauma Therapy is For

Trauma Therapy may be a good fit if you are:

  • Experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or ongoing stress after difficult experiences

  • Carrying the effects of childhood, relational, or other traumatic experiences

  • Feeling stuck even after gaining insight into what happened

  • Experiencing emotional numbness, dissociation, or feeling disconnected from yourself

  • Noticing strong reactions that seem connected to past experiences

  • Wanting to develop greater emotional safety, regulation, and resilience

My Approach

In Trauma Therapy, we work together to understand how past experiences may continue to influence your emotions, body, relationships, and responses today. My approach is trauma-informed and integrates Brainspotting, attachment-based therapy, parts work, and other therapeutic approaches to support deeper processing and emotional regulation. Rather than focusing only on what happened, therapy can also explore how those experiences continue to shape your internal world and create space for healthier patterns and greater connection.

I integrate a range of evidence-based and experiential approaches, including:

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a trauma-focused and somatic approach that can help identify and process deeper emotional and physical experiences connected to distressing or traumatic events. It may be particularly useful when something feels difficult to explain through words alone. By working with the connection between where you look and what you experience internally, Brainspotting can support deeper exploration of experiences that continue to affect emotional responses and everyday life.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a structured therapeutic approach designed to help process distressing memories and experiences. It can support the brain in reworking traumatic material so that past experiences may feel less emotionally overwhelming in the present. Through guided processing, therapy can help create greater distance from distressing memories while supporting a more integrated understanding of what happened.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-based therapy explores how early relationships and experiences can influence emotional needs, trust, boundaries, and connection later in life. Understanding these patterns can provide insight into the ways trauma may affect relationships with yourself and others. Therapy creates an opportunity to explore these experiences with greater awareness while developing a stronger sense of security, connection, and emotional support.

Parts Work (IFS-Informed)

Parts work explores the different parts of yourself that may develop different ways of responding to difficult experiences. Some parts may protect you through shutting down, overthinking, worrying, avoiding, becoming highly alert, or trying to maintain control. Rather than judging these responses, therapy can help you understand what they are trying to protect and create more compassionate ways of responding to your internal experiences.

DBT-Informed Skills

DBT-informed skills can provide practical support for managing intense emotions, distress, and moments of overwhelm. These tools may include mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance strategies that help you become more grounded during difficult moments. Developing these skills can complement deeper trauma work by creating additional resources for navigating strong emotional responses with greater awareness and stability.

Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic therapy explores underlying emotional patterns, unconscious processes, and earlier experiences that may influence how you respond to yourself, relationships, and current situations. This approach can help connect present-day struggles with deeper patterns and provide greater insight into the emotional experiences that continue to shape your life. Increased self-understanding can support meaningful and lasting personal growth.

Animal-Assisted Therapy

Animal-assisted therapy incorporates the calming presence of my emotional support pet into the therapeutic process. For some individuals, the presence of an animal can support grounding, emotional regulation, and a greater sense of comfort and safety during sessions. This approach can be integrated into therapy when appropriate and may provide an additional source of calm while exploring difficult emotional experiences.
